Sir 1974 - Ponytails And Ducks Asses - American Graffiti

Yes "SIR!" That's right gang this week we are setting the "Way Back Machine" to the year 1974. A time when is seems that the facts are blurry at best. The Phantoms??? Stevie?? Bitchyer?? Really?? I must say I do like the way they talk about the film cutting back and fourth between the different stories. I know we all take this type of editing as the norm today, but keep mind that in 1973 it had not been done like that before.

I also just love any article that gives the character name and the type of car they drove. Oh and lets not forget quotes from the movie!!! Jeff

Focus on Film 1974 - American Graffiti

Focus on Film questions Lucas' choices for cars and dialogue for the film saying it wasn't period correct and that was in 1974. No one seems to question it now. I think that's odd. I do think it's a movie not a documentary. Sometimes I think people forget that.

This is a great article packed with facts when the facts were still fresh. I must say I don't care for Milner's Coupe being described as a "Dumb Movie Blond" but I do see their point. The prices they paid and what they wanted for cars when they sold them makes me crazy. Can you imagine if you had a couple grand burning a hole in your pocket and the for site to know what these would become......

Hit Parader Songs & Stories March 1974 - Wolfman Jack

Why the name Wolfman Jack? Wolfman because he liked horror films and Jack because Jack always knew what was happening. When George Lucas approached Wolfman he jumped at the chance to be in American Graffiti after reading the script. Wolfman thought the exposure would help his career and he was amazed that his character would be in almost every scene. Wolfman already had 20 years in the business and he could spot a great opportunity to build his brand.

This French magazine makes me think of when Carlos (Manuel Padilla Jr.) says "He blasts that thing around the world" Like Wolfman Jack I bet durning the filming of American Graffiti Manuel never though that he would also blasted around the world. Jeff
