Rodders Digest 1989 No.33 - Graffiti Ghost

It's October a month for tricks and treats so I am getting out the ghost. Feel the Graffiti Love as we follow a fellow coupe builders project. This month you will see a 1932 Ford dress up as John Milner's Graffiti Coupe. The costume is a little off but it's still pretty cool. The build runs thru about 8 issues. I will get them all posted this month so stop back for random posts.
Happy Halloween (in advance)

American Graffiti In The Lost And Found

Everyone knows that lots of photos are taken during the filming of a movie. A lot of them never see the light of day. Some are used for lobby cards, posters and for general promotion of the film the others get filed away somewhere. Problem is without proper organization these hidden gems can go missing forever. During an upgrade to the archives at the Magnum Photo Agency they discovered that they had hundreds of thousands of these untagged pictures. Magnum hired Tagasauris (a company that tags photos) to make their database more searchable. Then with the use of a “Semantic Graph” they discovered links between photos. Turns out they have been sitting on 21 never before seen pictures that had been taken back in 1972 during the filming of American Graffiti. That’s right Dennis Stock snapped these beauties of George Lucas, Haskell Wexler, Candy Clark, Mackenzie Phillips, Cindy Williams, Donna Wehr, Paul Le mat, Ron Howard, Charles Martin Smith, Bo Hopkins, Manuel Padilla Jr, Beau Gentry and even a nice shot of Harrison Ford back in 1972. Who would have thought that almost 40 years after the filming of our favorite movie that there would still be something new to see. Now kick back and just try to wipe that smile off of your face.

I think George is saying there are over a hundred posts on this blog check it out.

Magnum Photo Agency have shown all 21 of the pictures they have about American Graffiti.

Just remember there are other untapped archives out in the world.

Keep this under you "Cap". I don't mean to toot my own "Horn" but I happen to know there are still at least 200 never before seen pictures from the filming of American Graffiti out there. (no questions please)

It's a Custom Job

Why was Steve's Impala "better than Darrly Starbird's Superfleck Moonbird"?
the answer.....Constant tinkering. Just like this blog. When the old All Graffiti site went away I lost a lot, movies I had made, all of my stories that I had finally typed up, several scans I had posted. I did not have any kind of back-up. I didn't think I needed one. The few files I did recover from "all" of my old pages were somehow corrupted and incomplete so most of those got trashed. After a bunch of soul searching (remembering why I ever did this in the first place) I figured I would turn something bad into something better. So I Started from scratch, a new site complete with a new name and web address. I know it took a few of you awhile of you to find me again. Sorry I did not have the option of leaving a forwarding address. Old fans may also notice many of the scans are cleaner and clearer than they have ever been. I have been slowly rescanning my collection. I have also been working on keeping the file sizes at a manageable level for those of you who have limited bandwidth. (see i read the mail you send) One of these days I will get everything straightened out Thanks for your patience.

I guess when the world give you lemons you make lemon aid and when the world gives you a 1933 Plymouth body you make Milner's Graffiti Coupe. Jeff
